Children’s Museum to teach kids about financial and physical fitness during upcoming events

On Saturday February 2, from 1 to 3 p.m., the Terre Haute Children’s Museum will host a belated birthday bash to celebrate Benjamin Franklin, and guests will get to preview the upcoming four-week session of Go Figure entitled "Focus on FitnessThe event will include a number of special activities and presentations, including a special appearance by Ben Franklin himself!

 Benjamin Franklin, who was born Jan. 17, 1706, became famous for being a scientist, inventor, statesman, printer, philosopher and economist. During Ben’s Birthday Celebration, museum guests will have a chance to learn about many of his accomplishments including his most important inventions, his interest in health-related issues, and his focus on being thrifty and financially fit.

The celebration, co-sponsored by the Indiana State University (ISU) Go Figure team, the ISU Center for Mathematics Education, and the new ISU Old National Bank Financial Health Program will feature a number of hands-on activities for kids of all ages. The Benjamin Franklin Birthday Celebration is free for members of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and free with museum admission for non-members.

Children’s Museum announces Martin Luther King Jr. Day hours

The Terre Haute Children’s Museum has announced that it will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.Martin-Luther-King-Jr.-Day-A-Day-of-Service

During the Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, guests will get a chance to learn about the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. through educational posters and a scavenger hunt. And, from 1 to 4 p.m., guests will get to learn about winter weather as they make their own snowman measuring stick.
